Strangely, both New Jersey and plastic surgeons are suddenly showing up in entertainment news thanks to the reality TV show called Real Housewives of New Jersey.

The show airs on the Bravo network and follows the exploits, conversations and misadventures of five overly stereotyped “Jersey Girls” living in the Garden State. New Jersey housewives Teresa Guidice, Jacqueline Laurita, Caroline Manzo, Dina Manzo and Danielle Staub visit restaurants, go on shopping sprees, spend time at the spa and talk a lot about various types of plastic surgery.

The New Jersey housewives infamously call their breasts “bubbies” and they all seem to have a an almost child-like fascination with their own body parts. Jacqueline and Dina admit to having breast enhancement surgery, though Dina indicates that her own ample breasts are plenty real in one episode. Danielle Straub, embroiled in some controversies over her stripper past, has said that she has had no plastic surgery outside of breast augmentation surgery and some Botox treatments.

One New Jersey housewife, Teresa, has relatively small breasts that played heavily into the plot of the show. At one point Dina comments to Teresa “You need bubbies. I love you, but you need them!”

This, of course, leads to Teresa taking Jacqueline, Dina and Caroline to her plastic surgeon consulation where some of the New Jersey housewives admit that their breasts aren’t real. The show’s heavy editing leaves a lot to be desired and it almost makes a joke out of how important any plastic surgery decision is. At one point Teresa appears want to want a B cup but later her husband seems to convince her that a C cup is more preferable. At one point in the show the New Jersey housewives make a comment that they’d prefer a handsome plastic surgeon over an ugly one.

Real Housewives of New Jersey is meant to be entertaining, but it could also give people the wrong idea bout the seriousness of plastic surgery and the importance of finding a certified and experienced plastic surgeon, especially in New Jersey. Plastic surgery is something which must be considered seriously and soberly. Yes, plastic surgery can be exciting and it’s easy to get carried about, but it’s still surgery, it still has risks and it’s still something which should be dealt with in a mature manner and not treated as child’s play.

Watch the TV show and laugh, but don’t follow the New Jersey housewife example. Remember to do your due diligence when it comes to choosing a New Jersey or New York plastic surgeon for your cosmetic surgery needs.
